June 2025: Third Thursday Jamestown Preview – Tsavo Highway

Buffalo band Tsavo Highway is starting to create a name for themselves in the regional music scene. The driving-bluesy rock music is capture fantastically in the release of their excellent debut album “Circles.” This will be the band’s first Jamestown gig. Singer Emily Scripps provided us with a little insight on Tsavo Highway.

Give us the history of Tsavo Highway. How long has the group been together?

We’ve been a band for three years now, but like any good road trip, we’ve made a few stops and changes along the way. After a couple lineup shifts and a whole lot of growth, we officially settled into our current five-piece in early 2024: Brian Calisto on bass, Brian McMahon on drums, Peter Kern and Christian Dobosiewicz on guitars, and Emily Scripps on lead vocals. That’s when it really clicked—and we haven’t looked back.

What should the people of Jamestown expect when seeing Tsavo Highway? What kind of music do you play? Band influences?

Our live show brings a mix of rock, soul, and jam-inspired energy, all tied together by powerful female vocals and a band that knows how to listen to each other onstage. You’ll hear tightly arranged songs that leave room for exploration, groove-heavy moments, and melodic solos that take their time. We’re influenced by artists like Led Zeppelin, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Couch, Grateful Dead, and Melt—but we’ve carved out a sound that feels like our own.

Is this the first time playing Jamestown?

It is! We’ve been wanting to play here for a while and we’re excited to finally make it happen. The Third Thursday series is such a cool community event, and this show lands right before we play Estival Festival the following day in Caneadea—so if you’re feeling adventurous, come follow us there too. We’ll also be hitting the road for our first mini tour at the end of July, with stops in Brooklyn, Philly, and Elmira.

Tell us about the band’s new, debut album “Circles.” Any songs off this that are your favorite to play live?

Our debut full-length album Circles came out in January 2025. It’s about movement—how people, emotions, and relationships evolve in cycles. It starts off a little tense and introspective, and ends in a place of joy and clarity. Live, “Circles” is a favorite of ours to play. The middle section opens up each night and Peter’s solo always goes somewhere new. “Buffalo Girls” is another standout—it’s got this driving energy, built-in crowd interaction, and it’s just a fun one to throw down mid-set.

Where can people find the band and listen to your music?
